Our 4th. Grandson turns 4!
Ethan James Patten...our 1st. sons 2nd. son and our 4th grandson, turned 4 years old! We celebrated his birthday this Sunday with our family. Here are some pictures of the birthday boy. There were a lot of pictures that Grandpa took but most of them are blurry! Ethan does not stay still for very long! He is always moving so it was hard to find pictures where he wasn't just a blur! He is a real character, he loves to play with cars, run, jump, growl, yell, and get into trouble with his little brother Adam. He loves to eat and is never full! I guess you can say he is just all boy!!!
Such a cute little guy...we love Ethan!

Wicked
For Mike's birthday the kids got him a ticket to wicked (really just the $ and he got to pick the day and time). Since he didn't get the ticket yet we got tickets for me, Christy and Jimmy for Christmas and we all went to see Wicked at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco on Jan. 19th. It was wonderful and we had a great time!
My camera was in my purse so we got it out to take a picture of Christy and me...Mike and Jimmy went to get something to eat. Christy said we weren't allowed to take pictures but we thought it was just of the stage so we pulled out the camera and took this picture...Just as the picture was snapped we heard a voice behind us say "no picture taking is allowed!" We turned around to see an usher helping people into the seats right behind us! As you can see in the picture...she got into the picture too! Luckily they didn't confiscate the camera! We are no good at trying to get away with anything!

Another Birthday...
I decided to put up some Birthday pictures because it will be another 5 years before I have another Birthday! I have decided to go like Mike and go on the 5 year plan. We have reached an age where we will only have birthdays every 5 years...that way we will not get older so fast!
Fun cards from Megan and Jonnie, necklaces from Christy, a game from Jimmy!
Kristal made me some yummy carmel popcorn! Michael got me a pink pearl necklace with earrings to match and a dozen red roses!

A fun day at the Urgent Care facility and the emergency room....
Probably for the price of a week in Hawaii or some such fun place I spent the day at Urgent Care and an evening at the Emergency Room. If I had it to do over I would have just stayed in bed that day and hoped for the best...then used the money I would have saved by not going to the Urgent Care and Emergency Room and and used it to go on a trip to anywhere except the Urgent Care and Emergency Room and probably Haiti! I woke up with stomach pains that I figured would go away since a few weeks earlier I had the same kind of pains and they did go away. Unfortunately they did not go away and they got worse as the day went on. When it got to the point that I couldn't walk or stand up straight I decided to call the Doctor. My doctor was booked so I ended up having Christy take me to Urgent Care. I didn't feel confident to drive or walk all the way from the car into the doctor's office. I got a really nice doctor who took good care of me but could never figure out what was wrong. She did blood work, had an ultra sound done and kept me all day in bed with an IV and wouldn't let me eat or drink. When all the results came back OK she sent me home and told me to go to the emergency room for a CT scan if the pain was still there by 10:00 p.m. At 9:30 she called me and told me to go to the hospital and she would call there. When I got there they put me on another IV, did more blood work, an EKG and a CT Scan...again normal results. When they decided they had made enough money on me without a diagnosis they sent me on home after finally giving me something for the pain. I went home and woke up feeling just fine! I don't know what kind of cruel joke my body was playing on me but I hope that it won't do it again. The final insult will be a scope they want to put down my throat to see the last piece's of my body that they hadn't probed and taken pictures of. I am supposed to have that in Feb. sometime...if I follow through with it. I am fine and the pain has not come back so we will see. Christy had her phone and wanted to take a picture before she headed off to work...the smile on my face is fake!

(wrapping up 2009...)
Christmas 2009
Is it Christmas yet?
When I talked to my grandson Samuel on Christmas day he was telling me everything that Santa brought him for Christmas...he said "I was on the nice list...not the naughty list!"
We must have been on the nice list too!

Kaitlyn born Dec. 19,2009
Kaitlyn comes home!
Kaitlyn was born on December 19th. one day before Jonathan's birthday! I was able to go to Cory and Kristal's and tend the children while Cory and Kristal went to the hospital. The kids and I had fun. I promised them a cocoa party after they cleaned their rooms....with a little help from Grandma we got the rooms cleaned and as I told them ready for Santa to see that they put their toys away when they were done playing with them so that he would leave them so more toys! We then had the promised cocoa party! We made cocoa and popcorn and watched the Wizard of Oz. On Saturday night I brought the kids back to our home so that I could be to church on Sunday for Primary(I was called to be Primary Pres. a few months back). After church we had lunch, put the little ones to take a nap and made Jonathan a birthday cake. Cory brought Kristal and Kaitlyn home from the hospital earlier. We then packed everyone up along with the birthday cake to take the kids home to see baby Kaitlyn and celebrate Jonathan's birthday. We got to all see Kaitlyn for the first time. She is so tiny and perfect. We all decided that she is definite keeper! What a little cutie! The kids were so excited to hold her and watch her every move. Adam was so cute with her. He rubbed her head and tried to get her to suck his finger. After admiring Kaitlyn and each having a chance to hold her we had dinner and then celebrated Jonathan's 7th. birthday.

One lucky Grandma with grandchild #9...granddaughter #3!
